With so much concern about the economy, the war, health care, and other vital issues, I’m glad an estimated 60,000 people were able to take time away from their cares to watch people and planes plunge into the Willamette yesterday.

Steve took the photograph, of course. I spent the day in neighborhoods outside downtown in Northeast, Southeast, and North Portland. Folks there had a lot of fun, too.
