Hooray! DJC now open for non-subscribers on line
Portlanders now have a new Internet resource for local development-related news, in more detail and from a different perspective. The Daily Journal of Commerce‘s site, which used to be for subscribers only, is now available to all. Only the bids and contract ads legal advertisements, foreclosures, bid information, business leads and archive materials are paid-content in the new, improved version. They have a blog, too, and a calendar of networking and informational events. Check it out! Some of today’s headlines that may be of interest to my readers: Biofuels industry split over local producers’ role by reporter Libby Tucker, Pearl’s Wyatt bails out of condo tower market by Tyler Graf, and more.
I always pick up a copy of the Daily Journal of Commerce (DJC) outside the City Council chambers when I visit, and generally read it cover to cover (including the contracts) while waiting for my agenda item to come up. It contains details of the Council agenda on hearing days, too. It has articles no other news outlet carries, often about aspects of development being done by people with more interest in doing good work than in seeking subsidies or self-promotion. Having the DJC available on line, without subscription expenses, is a real breakthrough in providing accurate, different information for Portland’s citizens who are interested in city development issues. I’m pumped!
I’ve added the link to my sidebar, and will be including checking the DJC site in my scans of current events in Portland to report here.
