Next Up at City Council 9/19 – 20, 2007
The Portland City Council’s agenda for the coming week’s meeting is here. With the Holly Farm Park celebration taking most of my day yesterday, and actually getting paid for eight hours’ work this afternoon/evening (working on the inpatient psychiatry unit at OHSU), I don’t have time for a thorough preview of it today. So, please look it up yourself, if you want to be sure I didn’t skip something important.
The hearing on VisionPDX is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19. I’d like to see a good turnout if only to encourage the five men on the Council to schedule the third Wednesday meeting in the evening instead of the afternoon, routinely. People with regular 9 – 5 jobs, and parents home with small children, often have to make more significant effort to attend at 2 p.m. than in the evening when work is done and babysitters more available. And, as I mentioned last week, VisionPDX may turn out more useful than many people thought.
I plan to look at the documents going to Council, before Wednesday, to see what changes if any were made in response to public feedback on the draft Vision statements. Several of them were woefully inadequate from my perspective when I reviewed them a few months ago (use “visionPDX” in the “search” feature in the left sidebar, if you’re interested in reading my comments). I’ll provide an update as soon as I can.
