Sunshine and Multiple Sclerosis

The BBC reports on a study newly published by researchers at the University of Southern California (USC), apparently showing that being out in sunshine as a child cuts the rist of developing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by 57%. Previous studies have shown a link between women taking Vitamin D supplements and reducing the incidence of MS by up to 40%.

“But the researchers are certainly not suggesting people go out and get skin cancer. Exposure to the sun’s rays can be dangerous.”

So many of life’s choices involve a cost-benefit analysis. Good to know there’s another tally in the pro-sunshine column.
