….Dave Lister. One of the purely delightful aspects of my run for City Council last year was becoming friends with Dave, a candidate for the other seat in last May’s primary. Willamette Week today reports Dave is not planning to run in 2008, even if there is an open seat. That is a loss for public process and civic engagement. Dave is a small business owner who cares about people and Portland, and he provides an important voice for his conservative viewpoint – which many citizens relate to. Others may step up to represent the same interests, but Dave is unique in his style, and will have learned from experience if he runs again.
