The New Seven Wonders of the World

Actually, most of them are still pretty old. But a global poll with over 100 million participants announced on 07/07/07 the New Seven Wonders of the World (nice photos of all, in that link). The Great Wall of China; Petra, Jordan; statue of Christ Redeemer, Brasil; Maccu Picchu, Peru; Pyramid of Chichén Itzá, Mexico; the Colosseum, Rome; and the Taj Mahal, India. I’ve only visited one, the Colosseum.

Can you name the ancient Seven Wonders? And which is the only remaining one? Answer after the break.

The Ancient Wonders list includes the Pyramids of Egypt; the Hanging Gardens of Babylon; Colossus of Rhodes; Lighthouse of Alexandria; Temple of Artemis, Ephesus; Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (see map); and Temple of Zeus in Greece. The Pyramids of Giza are the only surviving Ancient Wonder.

The 7 Wonders site is taking nominations for the 7 Wonders of Nature, through 08/08/08. Hopefully the United States will score a winner in that poll.
