Sign at Metro
MAKE THIS ROOM WASTE FREE
The sign, on the wall of a conference room in the Metro headquarters on Grand Avenue where I attended a meeting yesterday, goes on to list ways to reduce and recycle. It gives a number to call to get metal cutlery instead of using plastic disposables; points out the availability of ceramic mugs; identifies the location of paper recycling containers, etc.
Another way of ensuring compliance: No trash cans anywhere in the room, even inside the lower cupboards. The nearest garbage container is down the hall.
I am easily amused.
Which is fortunate, as I will be spending most of the morning at the Portland City Council meeting. More on that later.
