The Missing Link
One of the many things I’ve learned since I started this blog, is how easy it is to add bias in reporting, in the simple act of choosing which links to insert in a post. When a Google search turns up hundreds or even millions of hits on a particular topic, deciding which to use both as references and in hyperlinks becomes an art, science, and exercise of freedom of speech and expression.
So I find it particularly interesting that on the Oregonian‘s main page today, they show a link to the “For” argument for Portland’s Charter Change, but not to the companion article “Against”, written by former Auditor Jewel Lansing. Both are in the print edition.
I’d love to be able to provide a link for you to Jewel’s article, which the O posted on their blog a week ago. The URL which worked then now links only to the commentary in favor. And today, when I search on their site for “Jewel Lansing”, and click on the link to her comments, Leave well enough alone, it shows a blank page. Technical hitch?
