Next Up at City Council, 4/18-19/07, for real
The Portland City Council agenda for the day after tomorrow is now posted. Kudos to the two people who signed up to talk about Charter Reform under Citizen Communications. Further down the list, on the Consent Agenda, we find:
408 Amend City Charter and Code to rename the Bureau of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services to Portland Fire & Rescue (Ordinance; amend Charter Chapter 5, Code Chapter 3.22 and other titles, as needed)
How odd. Apparently minor wording changes in the Charter are allowed without a vote of the people.
OK, quick review of the rest since I already spent time on it over the weekend, and besides, will it make any difference? Two Time Certains:
393 – 9:30 AM – Accept and endorse the Portland Green Streets Policy and Green Streets Cross Bureau Phase 2 Report
394 – 10:15 AM – Creation of the Quality Rental Housing Workgroup
It’s a real shame links to the reports behind these items aren’t available. Months of staff work and citizen volunteer time likely went into each, and they sound like good projects Portlanders would be happy to know about. Oh well.
Blah blah blah, a bunch of contracts, grants, and job position creations. Good to know, usually routine. A couple of items coming back after more work. A nice little Emergency Ordinance:
*413 Authorize agreement with Gmuender Engineering LLC for annual inspection services for the Portland Aerial Tram – Yeah, nobody knew this was coming, needs to be approved in a hurry.
Nothing on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday at 2 p.m., Hoyt Street zoning amendments which I linked in Saturday’s preview. At 2:30 p.m., Byers Measure 37 Claim which I’ll outline later today. The explanation of the Byers case helps with understanding the Hoyt Street map amendments, too. At least, I hope it will.
