Not a happy camper

I understand and appreciate the rationale for having some critters in zoos. Breeding endangered species, bringing a glimpse of Africa, Asia, Australia, the Arctic/Antarctica, and South America to the US so people who don’t/can’t travel can appreciate gorgeous creatures from those continents. I used to love going to the Oregon Zoo with my children. We learned a lot, and had many delightful visits. For the most part, I felt significant effort was being made to provide healthy environments for the animals, within the parameters of an urban zoo.

But primates in cages? This fella or female looks like they’d rather be dead, and that s/he knows it.
