Sherars Falls fishing platform

The Lower Deschutes River, accessed from the Back Country Byway just outside the main street in Maupin, is lovely. An unexpected benefit of this blog is that now, when Steve suggests taking a scenic detour that will take an hour in the hope of maybe seeing some obscure rocks or waterfall, my response is enthusiastic agreement rather than the grudging tolerance I may have sometimes exhibited in the past. This photo shows one of the wooden platforms below Sherars Falls, where members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs exercise their dip-net fishing rights harvesting fall Chinook and steelhead. Looks a bit slippery just now.
