Beauty over PDX

Today is the last day of winter break for my college-student sons. One will be flying nonstop to Newark on Continental‘s five-hour red-eye, a bargain at $167 including taxes. Did everyone except me already know that it’s now no cheaper to book round trip compared with one way, on many airlines? The other will be driving back to Western Oregon University, in Monmouth outside Salem. The trip takes about an hour, but his total time for the transition may be similar to his brother’s since packing a car full o’ stuff takes a lot longer than filling a carry-on bag.

Once they are safely back, my daughter and I will be hoping for a snow day.
