1221 SW 4th
I heard the Council this morning is taking testimony on the renaming of 4th Avenue (both SW and NW), and on the new Code setting up a Council-centered process for this and future street renamings. Both Agenda items are Second Readings, which usually means no public input. Like most citizens, it’s not exactly convenient for me to drop everything I had planned for this morning, the day before Thanksgiving, and head downtown. I will, because I think they’re making a mistake (another mistake) with the new process. But I sure would like to see more consideration for real life in the Council’s hearing schedules — as well as in their decision-making processes.
Regardless of the name on its address, Portland’s City Hall is beautiful, especially inside. Even when we are angry, it is good to gather there and talk.
